Or, A Year Of Madness

The sad tale of one man's - failed - bewildering attempt to get into the 1,200k endurance cycle event, from Paris to Brest and then back again, in August 2011. Oh, and walk 100 miles non-stop in May. And run a marathon - all in within 12 months. The marathon went OK, the walk was fine and the final qualifying ride was too close to the 100 mile walk. So the Pointless Project goes on for another four years untilk PBP comes round again in 2015.....

have entered London-Edinburgh-London.....

LEL in late July is a 1,400k ride starting in er, London, and going to er, Edinburgh and returning to er, London. With 750 places I thought entry would be possible in say, April, after I had had a chance to see if my training was going well enough. This morning, the day of entries opening, I checked the BlackBerry to discover an email from a friend telling me entries were at 600 after one hour. I looked online and of the 750 entries there were 21 left. Plainly my "considered approach" went out of the window. So I am now £219 poorer and have an entry to an event to ride 1,400k in 119 hours starting in late July. Looks as if I ought to start training then.....

  2. Have fun both of you! I have volunteered to support - not sure where yet, either Thirsk or Barney.
